This Navy guy is as though as they come. Sticks to you like a glue…
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Melody Anne begins a sizzling and heartfelt series about Joseph Anderson’s long-lost nephews.
Finn Anderson is a loyal military veteran who has no desire to live a life of luxury and ease, but sometimes a person doesn’t get a choice. His life is flipped upside down when he and his four brothers learn they’re long-lost relatives of the absurdly famous and wealthy Joseph Anderson. The eccentric but generous billionaire puts the brothers to work building a new veterans center, and that’s not all: Joseph won’t stop until each nephew finds love.
Finn has never expected or wanted an easy life, and he struggles with his early retirement from the elite SEAL team. But when a very confident Brooke Garrison literally sweeps him off his feet during a self-defense class he’s teaching, he thinks less about his past and more about a brand-new future.
If Finn knows anything for certain, it’s that he can’t let this woman get away. Though Brooke is tough and compassionate, the loss of her brother has left her vulnerable. She isn’t sure she can risk loving and losing another person in her life, including a very determined ex-SEAL. Can the two of them look beyond their past wounds and embrace what they’re feeling?
So… This is not the usual romance that I read, but since I had my baby girl sometimes even my dark heart needs some mushy, almost-sickeningly-sweet romance. This book delivered.
My first-ever book from Melody Anne was Arden and the Undercover billionaires series. I loved them. But those were slightly suspense style books, and this is a pure insta-love story. I had to laugh when Brooke kicks Finn’s ass and the first thing he says with this stupid – kid in the candy store – grin: “I am gonna marry this woman.”
Yes. This all in the first two chapters so you can imagine how insta-love this is. Finn was a cute guy – and I have to say cute because that is the only word I have for him. The perfect guy that maybe does not even exist. I like my characters with some flaws, more realistic. I kinda missed this from here. There were some very confusing things here. The realistic aspects of a good story totally missing. The timeline also was a little bit confusing. Things were done without us realizing it. For example, Brooke’s girlfriend Sarah says to her they will go on a double date. Then the next chapter we are suddenly in a totally different situation and I can only assume we are already over that date with a few days maybe weeks. Sometimes things are done in a sentence. The first-ever sex-scene I totally missed out on it was so quick. I am used to more sensual books, lol. Then another strange thing for me was when Sarah had this accident, almost died and she is only: “Oh, I so wanna go home already, I hope they catch the guy. Maybe he was drunk.”
She is like shrugging it off like it is no big deal. No reaction at all. I did not have any accidents so far in my life – thank god – but I think it would shake people a little bit at least.
This is fiction.
I liked the book, but I had some problems with it too. It was way toooo sickeningly sweet, pink and sunshine and rainbows and all. The perfect characters, no real conflict, absolutely linear storyline and no thrilling adventure. It was maybe a little bit too monotonous for me. But those who like an easy feast and read would absolutely love this book.
