You have nowhere to run this time. He will protect you at the cost of his own life if needed. But in return, he will never let you go…
Sam Kelly was her first love.
The last person Sam Kelly expected to pull wounded from the lake was Sophie Lundgren. Once they shared a brief, intense affair while Sam was undercover and then she vanished. She’s spent the last months on the run, knowing that any mistake would cost her life and that of her unborn child—Sam’s child. Now she’s resurfaced with a warning for Sam: this time, he’s the one in danger.
Now he’s her last chance.
Sam has too many questions to let her slip away again—like why she disappeared in the first place. This time he vows not to be seduced. But one look in her eyes, and the passion burns again, and Sam knows he’ll do anything to keep her and his child safe. However, Sophie’s dark past is more dangerous than he imagines, and the only way for either to survive it is to outrun it.
“I know this woman.”
“Who the hell is she?”
He stared both his brothers down. “She’s mine.”
I think nobody really believes that the oldest, most mature, most responsible brother will have a one-night stand that results in pregnancy. Sam also was not expecting Sophie to come back into his life wounded, pregnant and scared. But he is determined to get answers and protect them at any cost. Even if his brothers do not trust the woman. Because why would they? It can be a trap for all they know.
“Some lessons you learned by the book. Others you learned from cold hard experience. The latter may not be the best way to learn, but it damn well stuck.”
Sophie deceived Sam as much as he did with her. She never told him about her past, her family. But now that past wants her dead and she has a very big reason to fight for her life. Their unborn child. She seeks the help of the Kelly Group, plus she needs to warn them. They are coming for them. She vows to aid the family but first she needs to earn the trust of everyone and love of the one man she never wanted to let go in the first place.
“Oh no. Hell no. I’m not asking Ma for one of her bras. That’s just…wrong.”
“Your woman. You do it.”
” You go. We’ll pay for your therapy later.”
A fast-paced, action-filled very emotional story. Again. I loved every part of this book. Especially, that Sam and Sophie did not jump at each other at the reunion, they had to really develop a relationship, trust and build a love between them. They had to make the whole romance work, because it did not happen at first sight like a lightning struck them down. This made this book more real, more earthbound.
Amazing job. Truly fantastic characters and plot. On to the next brother.
