First things first. I have to say, when I first saw the blurb I asked myself: How is it possible I did not know that book existed? How could I miss such an important thing? Of course, I bought the book. Of course, I read it.
So, this book is very hot. I mean, seriously hot. The characters, the story, everything was perfect. I may be a little prejudiced because my number one favorite books are dark romances, but hey. Everybody has their weaknesses. And it will be very hard for me to write about this book without completely turning into a screaming fangirl or leaving out every big spoiler.
But I gotta try.
The plot is about a serial killer, who sets his eyes on his new prey. A woman working for the FBI, who wants to catch him. This is a challenge for him and he wants to make sure the woman is his, and only his. So he begins the courting procedure with a complex murder-series-plan. The best way to woo your heart-throb is to leave some very nasty body pieces for her like a puzzle. Even the road to hell is paved with… good… intentions. Anyways.
The heroine was a little clumsy, stupid and slow in my opinion, I did not really understand his fascination. I mean, come on. The girl could not figure out one single detail about him. Really. Okay, I have to be honest, the emotional and mystery part was sometimes a little bit stupid. But it gave me the feeling I am watching a new episode of Criminal Minds
and that is my all-time favorite show, so I am obliged to accept this.
Every book has its weaknesses and strength. This book was best on characters, even the side characters were perfect. Although nothing could judge the way our Psychopath turned out to be, I can certainly feel myself in his way and pity him. Our heroine also had some serious bump in her childhood. The epilogue… was absolutely fantastic.
I know I am saying this a lot, but you really have to read this book. Thrilling, action-packed, hot and sexy all in one. A perfect read for a very dark night. There is some abuse, some blood, so if you are one of the weak hearts, this is maybe not for you. But you are in for a ride if you give it a try. Be my guest. I think I found a new Goddess I can worship.
V.F.Mason always loved reading books and had quite a few fights with her mama over the genre she liked (romance, duh!) She studied filmmaking and thought that would feed her desire for stories, but that didn’t happen.
Finally, when she was tired of all those voices in her head, she sat down and wrote a book. It was a huge decision to make and she thanks her friends and family for supporting her in it.
When she is not writing, she can be found with her friends doing all sorts of crazy things or reading recent romance books that were written by her favorite authors.
