Insidious… No, we are not talking about the (in)famous horror movie series. But we are dealing with demons here also. What if Heaven wants you dead, Hell wants to use you as a weapon, and the Devil claims you as his? Surely this will be an exciting journey…
All Kat Montgomery wanted was a fun night out on the town. What she got was a death warrant. As it turns out, the quaint little hamlet of Mystic Harbor, Maine houses more than sandy beaches and adorable B&B’s. Beneath the New England charm rests a deadly world where shifters, demons, vampires, and angelic hunters all vie for power.
A world where magic is the greatest weapon.
Magic that Kat now possesses.
After that one fateful night, she can feel the changes beginning to take hold of her. Only problem, she doesn’t even know what she’s turning into. With threats hiding in plain sight, deciphering the lines between friend and foe is nearly impossible. As if things couldn’t get any worse, Kat learns her only real ally rests in the one person she can’t stand: Reese Blackburn, an insufferably handsome magician whom the town fears most.
Kat’s very soul is at stake, and destiny doesn’t seem to be playing out in her favor. Can these two unlikely partners challenge fate itself before it’s too late?
Yes, you guessed it. I am a sucker for bad-boy romance novels. These types of stories are my weaknesses. So, when I read in the blurb this is again a fantasy, where our heroine tries to escape fate… Well, I just could not say no. Again.
Kat is marked, but she still does not know what does that mean or is it a good thing or not. Surely it cannot be worse than trying to hide her brand new tattoo on her arm. But then she learns there is a whole bigger world out there, then she knew. With demons – hell-bent on getting to her, pun intended – and mages wanting her dead.
She finds an unlikely ally in the midst of a brewing war between demons and mages. She learns her fate is to open the seal of Hell and releasing chaos and destruction to mankind. But is it really her fate? Or somebody is trying to manipulate her?
This story was intriguing. I have to say, I know that I will be on our demon’s side. No matter what they say, no matter what is her “fate”, I will be on our “anti-hero’s side. Why do I always have to cheer for the wrong guy? I seriously hope, they will be together in the next book, ’cause I do not like this pretty boy with her right now. An intriguing, exciting story full of twists and turns, with loveable characters. Absolute winner if you want a YA fantasy novel.
